Fallout new vegas
So, I’ve been MIA for a few weeks. Had my reasons. Anyway, I’ve got some stuff to talk about; been clearing my backlog while I was away, and Fallout: New Vegas was one of them. I’d played it years ago, but after watching that Amazon series recently, I felt like jumping back in. (The show was absolute dogshit, by the way. I hated the second season). Anyway, I replayed New Vegas and I’ve got some thoughts.
New Vegas is the one and only Fallout game I’ve ever played. Yeah, yeah, it’s an RPG classic, a masterpiece—we all know that shit. People practically beat you up if you don’t praise it, so I don’t need to go over that again. I just want to touch on a few specific things.
First off, I worked my ass off just to get this game running. It was crashing every ten minutes. It only stabilized after I installed like 600 unofficial patches. I threw in a couple of minor mods too. Bethesda engine games are mod-heavy, but I don’t like messing with that stuff too much; I usually prefer to keep it as vanilla as possible.
As for the build, I went with the classic Speech and Revolver combo. The "Silver-Tongued Cowboy" who talks his way out of trouble but won’t hesitate to draw his piece when needed. Yeah, it’s not the most original build, but it’s cool as hell, what can I say? Me, my revolver, and Boone against the whole world. SO GOOD. And I finished the game with the NCR, because I’m an idiot.
By the way, during the second half of the game, traveling from point A to point B becomes incredibly tedious. Even fast travel doesn’t cut it anymore; it’s just annoying. You try to open the radio to kill time, but there are like, what, five songs in total? Look, the songs are great, but Johnny Guitar... Johnny Guitar... I’m losing my fucking mind.
Also, the DLCs suck. They don’t even come close to the quality of the main game. Other than that, it’s a solid game. We dig it.
