Dune Part 2

And now, we've made it to the second movie. Do you know why I avoided watching this film for the longest time? Because I absolutely fucking hate Zendaya. I hate how she gets cast in every single movie just to fill a race quota, despite being a dogshit actress. Whenever I look at Zendaya in a movie, I don't see acting; I just see political correctness, and it pisses me off. In the first film, it wasn't a big deal since she barely had any screen time, but here, she’s part of the main cast. Anyway, when the trailer for Part 3 dropped, I got so hyped that I couldn't resist and finally watched this one too.

Everything I praised in my review of the first movie still applies here, so I won't write a super long essay. There are just a few specific things on my mind that I want to touch upon before I get outta here. First off, they handled the Harkonnens beautifully in this film. I didn't mention it in my previous review, but the Baron was a fantastic villain. He was creepy, menacing, and all that. He’s just as good in this one, and this time his nephew joins the mix, serving as a great, contrasting antagonist for Paul. The Harkonnen homeworld was also captured brilliantly on screen.

While we got to know the universe and everything in the first film, this one dives much deeper into Paul’s personal growth. It feels more like a character study rather than just a plot-driven story. Huge events are taking place, obviously, but the real focus is on Paul slowly turning into a total piece of shit.

There were some legendary scenes in the movie that made me go "holy shit" while watching. Paul’s speech scene, in particular, made me wish I had experienced this in a theater.

I’m giving both the first movie and this one an A. By the way, these are temporary grades I’m throwing out off the top of my head. Once the trilogy is fully wrapped up, I might come back and change the scores. Because when it comes to trilogies, I don't think it's the right approach to judge each movie completely on its own.
